He who [a]sits in the heavens (A)laughs,
The Lord (B)scoffs at them.
Then He will speak to them in His (C)anger
And (D)terrify them in His fury, saying,
“But as for Me, I have installed (E)My King
Upon Zion, (F)My holy mountain.”

“I will announce the [b]decree of the Lord:
He said to Me, ‘You are (G)My Son,
Today I have fathered You.
Ask it of Me, and (H)I will certainly give (I)the [c]nations as Your inheritance,
And the (J)ends of the earth as Your possession.
You shall [d](K)break them with a [e]rod of iron,
You shall (L)shatter them like [f]earthenware.’”

10 Now then, you kings, (M)use insight;
Let yourselves be instructed, you [g]judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with [h](N)reverence
And rejoice with (O)trembling.
12 [i]Kiss (P)the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way,
For (Q)His wrath may be kindled quickly.
How blessed are all who (R)take refuge in Him!

Righteous Reign of the Branch

11 Then a (A)shoot will spring from the (B)stem of Jesse,
And a (C)Branch from (D)his roots will bear fruit.
The (E)Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him,
The spirit of (F)wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and (G)strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
And He will delight in the fear of the Lord,
And He will not judge by what His eyes (H)see,
Nor make decisions by what His ears hear;
But with (I)righteousness He will judge the (J)poor,
And decide with fairness for the (K)humble of the earth;
And He will strike the earth with the (L)rod of His mouth,
And with the (M)breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.
Also (N)righteousness will be the belt around His hips,
And (O)faithfulness the belt around His waist.

And the (P)wolf will dwell with the lamb,
And the leopard will lie down with the young goat,
And the calf and the young lion [a]and the fattened steer will be together;
And a little boy will lead them.
Also the cow and the bear will graze,
Their young will lie down together,
And the (Q)lion will eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra,
And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den.
They will (R)not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the (S)earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea.

10 Then on that day
The (T)nations will resort to the (U)root of Jesse,
Who will stand as a (V)signal flag for the peoples;
And His (W)resting place will be [b]glorious.

The Restored Remnant

11 Then it will happen on that day that the Lord
Will again recover with His hand the second time
The (X)remnant of His people who will remain,
From (Y)Assyria, (Z)Egypt, Pathros, Cush, (AA)Elam, Shinar, Hamath,
And from the [c](AB)islands of the sea.
12 And He will lift up a (AC)flag for the nations
And (AD)assemble the banished ones of Israel,
And will gather the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.
13 Then the (AE)jealousy of Ephraim will depart,
And those who harass Judah will be eliminated;
Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
And Judah will not harass Ephraim.
14 They will (AF)swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the (AG)west;
Together they will (AH)plunder the [d]people of the east;
[e]They will possess (AI)Edom and (AJ)Moab,
And the sons of Ammon will be [f]subject to them.
15 And the Lord will [g](AK)utterly destroy
The tongue of the [h]Sea of Egypt;
And He will (AL)wave His hand over the (AM)Euphrates River
With His scorching wind;
And He will strike it into seven streams
And make people walk over in dry sandals.
16 And there will be a (AN)highway from Assyria
For the (AO)remnant of His people who will be left,
Just as there was for Israel
On (AP)the day that they came up out of the land of Egypt.

God Will Be King over All

And the Lord will be (A)King over all the earth; on that day the Lord will be the only (B)one, and His name the only one.

10 All the land will change into a plain from (C)Geba to (D)Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but [a]Jerusalem will (E)rise and (F)remain on its site from (G)Benjamin’s Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the (H)Corner Gate, and from the (I)Tower of Hananel to the king’s wine presses. 11 People will live in it, and there will (J)no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will (K)live in security.

12 Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will (L)rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. 13 And it will come about on that day that a great panic from the Lord will [b]fall on them; and they will (M)seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will [c]be raised against the hand of another. 14 (N)Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the (O)wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance. 15 And just like this (P)plague, there will be a plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey, and all the cattle that will be in those camps.

16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will (Q)go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of armies, and to celebrate the (R)Feast of Booths. 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the (S)King, the Lord of armies, there will be (T)no rain on them. 18 And if the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the (U)plague with which the Lord strikes the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 19 This will be the [d]punishment of Egypt, and the [e]punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

20 On that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “(V)Holy to the Lord.” And the (W)cooking pots in the Lords house will be like the bowls before the altar. 21 Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be (X)holy to the Lord of armies; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a [f](Y)Canaanite in the house of the Lord of armies on that day.

The Lord will be king(A) over the whole earth.(B) On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.(C)

10 The whole land, from Geba(D) to Rimmon,(E) south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up(F) high from the Benjamin Gate(G) to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate,(H) and from the Tower of Hananel(I) to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place.(J) 11 It will be inhabited;(K) never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.(L)

12 This is the plague with which the Lord will strike(M) all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.(N) 13 On that day people will be stricken by the Lord with great panic.(O) They will seize each other by the hand and attack one another.(P) 14 Judah(Q) too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected(R)—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. 15 A similar plague(S) will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

16 Then the survivors(T) from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship(U) the King,(V) the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.(W) 17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship(X) the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain.(Y) 18 If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The Lord[a] will bring on them the plague(Z) he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.(AA) 19 This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.(AB)

20 On that day holy to the Lord(AC) will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots(AD) in the Lord’s house will be like the sacred bowls(AE) in front of the altar. 21 Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy(AF) to the Lord Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day(AG) there will no longer be a Canaanite[b](AH) in the house(AI) of the Lord Almighty.(AJ)
