Longing for the Temple Worship.

For the music director; [a]on the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

84 How lovely are Your (A)dwelling places,
Lord of armies!
My (B)soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the (C)living God.
The bird also has found a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may put her young:
Your (D)altars, Lord of armies,
(E)My King and my God.
(F)Blessed are those who dwell in Your house!
They are (G)ever praising You. Selah

Blessed is the person whose (H)strength is in You,
In [b]whose heart are the (I)roads to Zion!
Passing through the Valley of [c]Baca they make it a [d]spring;
The (J)early rain also covers it with blessings.
They (K)go from strength to strength,
[e]Every one of them (L)appears before God in Zion.

(M)Lord God of armies, hear my prayer;
Listen, (N)God of Jacob! Selah
See our (O)shield, God,
And look at the face of (P)Your anointed.
10 For (Q)a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than live in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (R)a sun and (S)shield;
The Lord gives grace and (T)glory;
(U)He withholds no good thing [f]from those who walk with integrity.
12 Lord of armies,
(V)Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

Prayer for God’s Mercy upon the Nation.

For the music director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

85 Lord, You showed (W)favor to Your land;
You (X)restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You (Y)forgave the guilt of Your people;
You (Z)covered all their sin. Selah
You (AA)withdrew all Your fury;
You (AB)turned away from Your burning anger.

(AC)Restore us, God of our salvation,
And (AD)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
Will (AE)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to [g]all generations?
Will You not [h](AF)revive us again,
So that Your people may (AG)rejoice in You?
Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And (AH)grant us Your salvation.

[i]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will (AI)speak peace to His people, to His godly ones;
And may they not (AJ)turn back to [j]foolishness.
Certainly (AK)His salvation is near to those who [k]fear Him,
That (AL)glory may dwell in our land.
10 (AM)Graciousness and [l]truth have met together;
(AN)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 [m]Truth (AO)sprouts from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 Indeed, (AP)the Lord will give what is good,
And our (AQ)land will yield its produce.
13 (AR)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.

Pleading and Trust.

A Prayer of David.

86 (AS)Incline Your ear, Lord, and answer me;
For I am (AT)afflicted and needy.
(AU)Protect my [n]soul, for I am (AV)godly;
You my God, save Your servant who (AW)trusts in You.
Be (AX)gracious to me, Lord,
For (AY)I call upon You all day long.
Make the soul of Your servant joyful,
For to You, Lord, (AZ)I lift up my soul.
For You, Lord, are (BA)good, and (BB)ready to forgive,
And (BC)abundant in mercy to all who call upon You.
(BD)Listen, Lord, to my prayer;
And give Your attention to the sound of my pleading!
On (BE)the day of my trouble I will call upon You,
For (BF)You will answer me.
There is (BG)no one like You among the gods, Lord,
Nor are there any works (BH)like Yours.
(BI)All nations whom You have made will come and worship before You, Lord,
And they will glorify Your name.
10 For You are (BJ)great, and you (BK)do [o]wondrous deeds;
You alone (BL)are God.

11 (BM)Teach me Your way, Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
(BN)Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will (BO)give thanks to You, Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forever.
13 For Your graciousness toward me is great,
And You have (BP)saved my soul from the [p]depths of [q]Sheol.

14 God, arrogant men have (BQ)risen up against me,
And a gang of violent men have sought my [r]life,
And they have not set You before them.
15 But You, Lord, are a (BR)compassionate and gracious God,
Slow to anger and abundant in mercy and [s]truth.
16 (BS)Turn to me, and be gracious to me;
(BT)Grant Your strength to Your servant,
And save the (BU)son of Your maidservant.
17 (BV)Show me a sign of good,
That those who hate me may (BW)see it and be ashamed,
Because You, Lord, (BX)have helped me and comforted me.

The Privileges of Citizenship in Zion.

A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song.

87 His (BY)foundation is in the holy mountains.
The Lord (BZ)loves the gates of Zion
More than all the other dwelling places of Jacob.
(CA)Glorious things are spoken of you,
(CB)City of God. Selah
“I shall mention [t](CC)Rahab and Babylon [u]among those who know Me;
Behold, Philistia and (CD)Tyre with [v](CE)Cush:
‘This one was born there.’”
But of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her”;
And the Most High Himself will (CF)establish her.
The Lord will count when He (CG)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
Then those who (CH)sing as well as those who [w](CI)play the flutes will say,
“All my (CJ)springs of joy are in you.”

A Petition to Be Saved from Death.

A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. For the music director; according to Mahalath Leannoth. A [x]Maskil of Heman [y]the Ezrahite.

88 Lord, the (CK)God of my salvation,
I have (CL)cried out by day and in the night before You.
Let my prayer (CM)come before You;
(CN)Incline Your ear to my cry!
For my (CO)soul has [z]had enough troubles,
And (CP)my life has approached [aa]Sheol.
I am counted among those who (CQ)go down to the pit;
I have become like a man (CR)without strength,
[ab]Abandoned (CS)among the dead,
Like the slain who lie in the grave,
Whom You no longer remember,
And they are (CT)cut off from Your hand.
You have put me in (CU)the lowest pit,
In (CV)dark places, in the (CW)depths.
Your wrath (CX)has rested upon me,
And You have afflicted me with (CY)all Your waves. Selah
You have removed (CZ)my acquaintances far from me;
You have made me an [ac](DA)object of loathing to them;
I am (DB)shut up and cannot go out.
My (DC)eye grows dim from misery;
I have (DD)called upon You every day, Lord;
I have (DE)spread out my [ad]hands to You.

10 Will You perform wonders for the dead?
Or will (DF)the departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah
11 Will Your graciousness be declared in the grave,
Your faithfulness in [ae]Abaddon?
12 Will Your wonders be made known in the (DG)darkness?
And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But I, Lord, have cried out (DH)to You for help,
And (DI)in the morning my prayer comes before You.
14 Lord, why (DJ)do You reject my soul?
Why do You (DK)hide Your face from me?
15 I was miserable and (DL)about to die from my youth on;
I suffer (DM)Your terrors; I grow weary.
16 Your (DN)burning anger has passed over me;
Your terrors have [af](DO)destroyed me.
17 They have (DP)surrounded me (DQ)like water all day long;
They have (DR)encircled me altogether.
18 You have removed (DS)lover and friend far from me;
My acquaintances are in a hiding place.

Instructions

17 Now He said to His disciples, (A)It is inevitable that [a]stumbling blocks come, but woe to one through whom they come! (B)It is better for him if a millstone is hung around his neck and he [b]is thrown into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to [c]sin. [d]Be on your guard! (C)If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you (D)seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

(E)The apostles said to (F)the Lord, “Increase our faith!” But (G)the Lord said, “If you [e]had faith [f]the size of (H)a mustard seed, you could say to this (I)mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would [g]obey you.

“Now which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him after he comes in from the field, ‘Come immediately and recline at the table to eat’? On the contrary, will he not say to him, ‘(J)Prepare something for me to eat, and properly [h]clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and [i]afterward you [j]may eat and drink’? He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he? 10 So you too, when you do all the things which were commanded you, say, ‘We are [k]unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’”

Ten Men with Leprosy Healed

11 While He was (K)on the way to Jerusalem, (L)He was passing [l]between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as He entered a village, ten men with leprosy who (M)stood at a distance met Him; 13 and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, (N)Master, have mercy on us!” 14 When He saw them, He said to them, (O)Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed. 15 Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, (P)glorifying God with a loud voice, 16 and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a (Q)Samaritan. 17 But Jesus responded and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? 18 [m]Was no one found who returned to (R)give glory to God, except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Stand up and go; (S)your faith has [n]made you well.”

Second Coming Foretold

20 Now He was questioned by the Pharisees (T)as to when the kingdom of God was coming, and He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with [o](U)signs that can be observed; 21 nor will (V)they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is [p]in your midst.”

22 And He said to the disciples, (W)The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 (X)And they will say to you, ‘Look there,’ or, ‘Look here!’ Do not leave, and do not run after them. 24 (Y)For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part [q]of the sky, shines to the other part [r]of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day. 25 (Z)But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 (AA)And just as it happened (AB)in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 people were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, and they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 [s]It was the same as happened in (AC)the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, and they were building; 29 but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and [t]brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be [u]just the same on the day that the Son of Man (AD)is revealed. 31 On that day, the one who will be (AE)on the [v]housetop, [w]with his goods in the house, must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one in the field must not turn back. 32 (AF)Remember Lot’s wife. 33 (AG)Whoever strives to [x]save his [y]life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will keep it. 34 I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 (AH)There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left. 36 [[z](AI)Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.”] 37 And responding, they *said to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, (AJ)Where the body is, there also the [aa]vultures will be gathered.”
