^5 (A)Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.
⁶ He who continually goes ^[a]forth weeping,
Bearing ^[b]seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again ^[c]with ^(B)rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.

¹⁰ “For ^(A)as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
^11 (B)So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me ^[a]void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall ^(C)prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

¹² “For^(D) you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall ^(E)break forth into singing before you,
And ^(F)all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
^13 (G)Instead of ^(H)the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,
And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
And it shall be to the Lord ^(I)for a name,
For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
And the children’s teeth are set on edge.’

²¹ “It shall come to pass in that day
That ^(A)I will answer,” says the Lord;
“I will answer the heavens,
And they shall answer the earth.
²² The earth shall answer
With grain,
With new wine,
And with oil;
They shall answer ^[a]Jezreel.
²³ Then ^(B)I will sow her for Myself in the earth,
^(C)And I will have mercy on her who had ^[b]not obtained mercy;
Then ^(D)I will say to those who were ^[c]not My people,
‘You are ^[d]My people!’
And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ”

¹² “Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
For there I will sit to ^(A)judge all the surrounding nations.
^13 (B)Put in the sickle, for ^(C)the harvest is ripe.
Come, go down;
For the ^(D)winepress is full,
The vats overflow—
For their wickedness is great.”

¹⁴ Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For ^(E)the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
