And call understanding your intimate friend,

¹² Hatred stirs up strife,
But ^(A)love covers all offenses.

²⁴ He who ^(A)withholds his ^[a]rod hates his son,
But he who loves him ^[b](B)disciplines him diligently.

²² Will they who ^(A)devise evil not go astray?
But kindness and truth will be to those who devise good.

⁹ The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
But He loves the one who ^(A)pursues righteousness.

^17 (A)Better is a portion of ^[a]vegetables where there is love,
Than a ^(B)fattened ox served with hatred.
