Christ Is Preached

¹² But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, ¹³ so that it has become evident ^(A)to the whole ^[a]palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; ¹⁴ and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: ^16 [b]The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; ¹⁷ but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. ¹⁸ What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

To Live Is Christ

¹⁹ For I know that ^(B)this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, ²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but ^(C)with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life ^(D)or by death.

^44 (A)“Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ^45 (B)But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying.

Who Is the Greatest?^(C)

^46 (D)Then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest. ⁴⁷ And Jesus, ^(E)perceiving the thought of their heart, took a ^(F)little child and set him by Him, ⁴⁸ and said to them, ^(G)“Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and ^(H)whoever receives Me ^(I)receives Him who sent Me. ^(J)For he who is least among you all will be great.”

Jesus Forbids Sectarianism^(K)

^49 (L)Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.”

⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for ^(M)he who is not against ^[a]us is on ^[b]our side.”
