15 (A)Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16 The latter do it out of love, (B)knowing that I am put here for (C)the defense of the gospel. 17 The former proclaim Christ (D)out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.
To Live Is Christ
Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that (E)through your prayers and (F)the help of (G)the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, 20 as it is my eager expectation and hope (H)that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full (I)courage now as always Christ (J)will be honored in my body, (K)whether by life or by death. 21 For to me (L)to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 (M)I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is (N)to depart and (O)be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25 (P)Convinced of this, (Q)I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your (R)progress and (S)joy in the faith,

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.(A) 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition,(B) not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.(C) 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers(D) and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ(E) what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.[a](F) 20 I eagerly expect(G) and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage(H) so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body,(I) whether by life or by death.(J) 21 For to me, to live is Christ(K) and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart(L) and be with Christ,(M) which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,
