Ang Pulong Sa Dios
22 Mas maayo nga nindot kag reputasyon kaysa daghan kag bahandi. Ang pagtahod sa mga tawo kanimo mas bililhon pa kaysa bulawan ug pilak.
2 Ang adunahan ug ang kabos parehas nga binuhat sa Ginoo.
3 Ang maalamon nga tawo molikay sa kakuyaw, apan ang walay alamag magpaduol hinuon niini, mao nga mag-antos siya.
4 Ang pagtahod sa Ginoo ug ang pagpaubos makahatag kanimo ug bahandi, dungog, ug taas nga kinabuhi.
5 Ang tawong daotan nagasubay sa dalan nga tunokon ug makuyaw. Ang tawong nagaamping sa iyang kinabuhi molikay niini.
6 Tudloi ang bata sa hustong gawi, ug mahinumdoman niya kini hangtod siya matigulang.
7 Ang kabos gamhan sa adunahan, ug ang utangan ulipon sa iyang giutangan.
8 Ang magpugas ug daotan moani ug kalaglagan, ug maundang na ang iyang pagpasakit sa uban.
9 Panalanginan sa Dios ang mga manggihatagon ug pagkaon ngadto sa mga kabos.
10 Aboga ang tawong tampalasan, ug mahunong ang panaglalis, panag-away, ug ang ininsultohanay.
11 Ang tawo nga matinud-anon ug matinahoron manulti mahimong higala sa hari.
12 Ginabantayan ug maayo sa Ginoo ang mga maalamon, apan daoton niya ang mga plano sa mga maluibon.
13 Ang tapolan nga tawo dili mogawas sa balay kay basin kuno ug may liyon sa gawas ug tukbon siya.
14 Ang mga pulong sa babayeng daotan nahisama sa lawom nga bangag, ug diha ipangtambog ang mga tawong gikapungtan sa Ginoo.
15 Kinaiya sa mga bata ang pagbinuang, apan matul-id kini kon disiplinahon sila.
16 Ang tawo nga mangdaog-daog sa mga kabos o manghatag ug regalo sa mga adunahan sa tuyo nga gustong maadunahan, mahimo na hinuong kabos.
Ang 30 ka Importanteng mga Panultihon
17 Pamatia ang mga pulong sa mga tawong maalamon. Pamati pag-ayo samtang ginatudlo ko kini kanimo, 18 kay magmalipayon ka gayod kon imo kining masayran ug masaulo. 19 Gitudlo ko kini karon kanimo aron mosalig ka sa Ginoo.
20 Nagsulat ako ug 30 ka mga panultihon nga maggiya ug maghatag kanimog kaalam. 21 Pinaagi niini masayran mo ang kamatuoran, ug makahatag kag masaligan nga tubag ngadto sa tawo nga mangutana kanimo.[a]

22 Ayaw pamintaha sa mga kabos, ug ayaw sila daog-daoga sa korte, 23 kay ang Ginoo maoy manalipod kanila. Ug kon unsay dili maayong gibuhat ninyo kanila buhaton usab sa Ginoo diha kaninyo.
‒ 2 ‒
24 Ayaw pakighigala sa tawong daling masuko, 25 kay basig mapareho ka kaniya, ug maghatod kini kanimo sa kadaotan.

26 Ayaw pagsaad nga ikaw mobayad sa utang sa uban. 27 Kay kon dili ka makabayad, kuhaon nila bisan ang imong higdaanan.

28 Ayaw ibta ang muhon nga giugbok sa imong mga katigulangan.
‒ 5 ‒
29 Ang tawo nga maayong motrabaho magaalagad sa mga hari ug dili sa ordinaryong mga tawo.

but those who would preserve their life stay far from them.

and the borrower is slave to the lender.

but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.

15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child,
but the rod of discipline will drive it far away.(T)
16 One who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth
and one who gives gifts to the rich—both come to poverty.
Thirty Sayings of the Wise
Saying 1
17 Pay attention(U) and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise;(V)
apply your heart to what I teach,(W)
18 for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart
and have all of them ready on your lips.
19 So that your trust may be in the Lord,
I teach you today, even you.
20 Have I not written thirty sayings for you,
sayings of counsel and knowledge,
21 teaching you to be honest and to speak the truth,(X)
so that you bring back truthful reports
to those you serve?

22 Do not exploit the poor(Y) because they are poor
and do not crush the needy in court,(Z)
23 for the Lord will take up their case(AA)
and will exact life for life.(AB)

24 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person,
do not associate with one easily angered,
25 or you may learn their ways
and get yourself ensnared.(AC)

26 Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge(AD)
or puts up security for debts;
27 if you lack the means to pay,
your very bed will be snatched from under you.(AE)
