10 Israel es una frondosa viña, que da abundante fruto para sí mismo; conforme a la abundancia de su fruto multiplicó también los altares, conforme a la bondad de su tierra aumentaron sus ídolos. 2 Está dividido su corazón. Ahora serán hallados culpables; Jehová demolerá sus altares, destruirá sus ídolos.
3 Seguramente dirán ahora: No tenemos rey, porque no temimos a Jehová; ¿y qué haría el rey por nosotros? 4 Han hablado palabras jurando en vano al hacer pacto; por tanto, el juicio florecerá como ajenjo en los surcos del campo. 5 Por las becerras de Bet-avén(A) serán atemorizados los moradores de Samaria; porque su pueblo lamentará a causa del becerro, y sus sacerdotes que en él se regocijaban por su gloria, la cual será disipada. 6 Aun será él llevado a Asiria como presente al rey Jareb; Efraín será avergonzado, e Israel se avergonzará de su consejo.
7 De Samaria fue cortado su rey como espuma sobre la superficie de las aguas. 8 Y los lugares altos de Avén serán destruidos, el pecado de Israel; crecerá sobre sus altares espino y cardo. Y dirán a los montes: Cubridnos; y a los collados: Caed sobre nosotros.(B)
9 Desde los días de Gabaa(C) has pecado, oh Israel; allí estuvieron; no los tomó la batalla en Gabaa contra los inicuos. 10 Y los castigaré cuando lo desee; y pueblos se juntarán sobre ellos cuando sean atados por su doble crimen. 11 Efraín es novilla domada, que le gusta trillar, mas yo pasaré sobre su lozana cerviz; haré llevar yugo a Efraín; arará Judá, quebrará sus terrones Jacob. 12 Sembrad para vosotros en justicia, segad para vosotros en misericordia; haced para vosotros barbecho;(D) porque es el tiempo de buscar a Jehová, hasta que venga y os enseñe justicia.
13 Habéis arado impiedad, y segasteis iniquidad; comeréis fruto de mentira, porque confiaste en tu camino y en la multitud de tus valientes. 14 Por tanto, en tus pueblos se levantará alboroto, y todas tus fortalezas serán destruidas, como destruyó Salmán a Bet-arbel en el día de la batalla, cuando la madre fue destrozada con los hijos. 15 Así hará a vosotros Bet-el, por causa de vuestra gran maldad; a la mañana será del todo cortado el rey de Israel.

2 Dividióse su corazón. Ahora serán hallados culpables: él quebrantará sus altares, asolará sus estatuas.
3 Porque dirán ahora: No tenemos rey, porque no temimos á Jehová: ¿y qué haría el rey por nosotros?
4 Han hablado palabras jurando en vano al hacer alianza: por tanto, el juicio florecerá como ajenjo en los surcos del campo.
5 Por las becerras de Beth-aven serán atemorizados los moradores de Samaria: porque su pueblo lamentará á causa del becerro, y sus sacerdotes que en él se regocijaban por su gloria, la cual será disipada.
6 Y aun será él llevado á Asiria en presente al rey Jareb: Ephraim será avergonzado, é Israel será confuso de su consejo.
7 De Samaria fué cortado su rey como la espuma sobre la superficie de las aguas.

12 Sembrad para vosotros en justicia, segad para vosotros en misericordia; arad para vosotros barbecho: porque es el tiempo de buscar á Jehová, hasta que venga y os enseñe justicia.
13 Habéis arado impiedad, segasteis iniquidad: comeréis fruto de mentira: porque confiaste en tu camino, en la multitud de tus fuertes.
14 Por tanto, en tus pueblos se levantará alboroto, y todas tus fortalezas serán destruídas, como destruyó Salmán á Beth-arbel el día de la batalla: la madre fué arrojada sobre los hijos.
15 Así hará á vosotros Beth-el por la maldad de vuestra maldad: en la mañana será del todo cortado el rey de Israel.

10 Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
3 For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the Lord; what then should a king do to us?
4 They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
6 It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.
8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
9 O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
10 It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
11 And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.
15 So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.

Retribution for Israel’s Sin
10 Israel is a luxuriant and prolific vine;
He produces fruit for himself.
The more his fruit,
The more altars he made [to Baal];
The richer his land,
The better he made the [idolatrous] pillars.
2
Their heart is divided (faithless);
Now they must bear their guilt and punishment.
The Lord will break down [the horns of] their altars;
He will destroy their idolatrous pillars.
3
Surely now they will say [in despair], “We have no [true] king,
For we do not revere the Lord;
And as for the king, what can he do for us [to rescue us]?”
4
They have spoken empty (disingenuous) words,
Swearing falsely to make covenants [they intend to break];
Therefore, judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.
5
The people of Samaria will fear and tremble
For the [idolatrous] calf of [a]Beth-aven (House of Wickedness).
Indeed, its people will mourn over it
And its idolatrous priests will cry out and wail over it,
Over its glory, because the glory [of their calf god] has departed from it.
6
The golden calf itself will be carried to Assyria
As tribute to King Jareb;
Ephraim will be seized with shame
And Israel will be ashamed of his own counsel [to worship the calf and separate Israel from Judah].
7
As for Samaria, her king will be cut off and float away
Like a twig on the surface of the water.
8
Also the high places of Aven (Beth-aven), the sin of Israel, will be destroyed;
The thorn and the thistle will grow on their [pagan] altars,
And [in despair] they will say to the mountains,
“Cover us!” And to the hills, “Fall on us!”(A)
9
O Israel, you have [willfully] sinned since the days of Gibeah;
There they (Israel) stand!
Will not the battle against the sons of wickedness overtake them at Gibeah?(B)
10
When it is my desire [to defend My righteousness], I will chastise them;
And [hostile] peoples will be gathered against them
When they are bound and punished for their double guilt [their revolt against the Lord and their worship of idols].(C)
11
Ephraim is a trained heifer that loves to tread out the grain,
But I will come over her fair neck with a heavy yoke [for hard field work].
I will harness Ephraim;
Judah will plow and Jacob will harrow and rake for himself.
12
Sow with a view to righteousness [that righteousness, like seed, may germinate];
Reap in accordance with mercy and lovingkindness.
Break up your uncultivated ground,
For it is time to seek and search diligently for the Lord [and to long for His blessing]
Until He comes to rain righteousness and His gift of salvation on you.(D)
13
You have plowed and planted wickedness, you have reaped the [willful] injustice [of oppressors],
You have eaten the fruit of lies.
Because you have trusted in your own way and your chariots, and in your many warriors,
14
Therefore an uproar will arise among your people,
And all your fortresses will be destroyed,
As Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle,
When mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.(E)
15
In this way it will be done to you at [idolatrous] Bethel because of your great wickedness;
At daybreak the king of Israel will be completely cut off.

cuanto más rica[a] era su tierra,
más hermosos hacían sus pilares sagrados(C).
2 Su corazón es infiel[b](D);
ahora serán hallados culpables(E);
el Señor[c] derribará sus altares
y destruirá sus pilares sagrados(F).
3 Ciertamente ahora dirán: No tenemos rey,
porque no hemos temido al Señor.
Y el rey, ¿qué haría por nosotros(G)?
4 Hablan meras palabras,
hacen pactos con juramentos vanos[d](H),
y el juicio brotará como hierbas venenosas en los surcos del campo(I).
5 Por el becerro[e](J) de Bet-avén(K)
temerán los habitantes de Samaria.
En verdad, por él hará duelo su pueblo,
y sus sacerdotes idólatras(L) se lamentarán a causa de él,
porque de él se ha alejado su gloria[f](M).
6 También el becerro[g] será llevado a Asiria(N)
como tributo al rey Jareb[h](O);
Efraín se cubrirá de vergüenza[i](P),
e Israel se avergonzará de su consejo(Q).
7 Samaria será destruida con su rey(R),
como una astilla[j] sobre la superficie del agua.
8 También serán destruidos los lugares altos de Avén(S), el pecado de Israel(T);
espinos y abrojos(U) crecerán sobre sus altares.
Entonces dirán a los montes:
¡Cubridnos!, y a los collados: ¡Caed sobre nosotros(V)!
9 Desde los días de Guibeá has pecado, oh Israel;
¡allí se han quedado!
¿No los alcanzará en Guibeá la batalla contra los hijos de la iniquidad?
10 Cuando yo lo desee(W), los castigaré[k](X);
y se juntarán pueblos contra ellos(Y)
cuando sean castigados[l] por su doble iniquidad.
11 Efraín es una novilla domesticada que le gusta trillar(Z),
pero yo pasaré un yugo sobre su hermosa cerviz(AA);
unciré a Efraín,
arará Judá, rastrillará Jacob por sí mismo.
12 Sembrad para vosotros según la justicia(AB),
segad conforme a la misericordia[m];
romped el barbecho(AC),
porque es tiempo de buscar al Señor(AD)
hasta que venga a enseñaros justicia[n](AE).
13 Habéis arado iniquidad(AF), habéis segado injusticia,
habéis comido fruto de mentira(AG).
Porque has confiado en tu camino, en la multitud de tus guerreros(AH),
14 se levantará un tumulto entre tu pueblo,
y todas tus fortalezas serán destruidas(AI),
como Salmán destruyó a Bet-arbel el día de la batalla,
cuando las madres fueron despedazadas con sus hijos(AJ).
15 Así os será hecho en Betel[o] a causa de vuestra gran iniquidad.
Al amanecer, el rey de Israel será totalmente destruido.
