⁵ And you shall attend to ^(A)the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, ^(B)that there may be no more wrath on the children of Israel. ⁶ Behold, I Myself have ^(C)taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel; ^(D)they are a gift to you, given by the Lord, to do the work of the tabernacle of meeting. ⁷ Therefore ^(E)you and your sons with you shall attend to your priesthood for everything at the altar and ^(F)behind the veil; and you shall serve. I give your priesthood to you as a ^(G)gift for service, but the outsider who comes near shall be put to death.”

² For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the ^[a]sanctuary; ^3 (A)and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, ⁴ which had the ^(B)golden censer and ^(C)the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were ^(D)the golden pot that had the manna, ^(E)Aaron’s rod that budded, and ^(F)the tablets of the covenant; ⁵ and ^(G)above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.

Limitations of the Earthly Service

⁶ Now when these things had been thus prepared, ^(H)the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. ⁷ But into the second part the high priest went alone ^(I)once a year, not without blood, which he offered for ^(J)himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance;
