Offerings of the Leaders

7 Now on ^(A)the day that Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, he ^(B)anointed it and consecrated it with all its furnishings, and the altar and all its utensils; he anointed them and consecrated them also. ² Then ^(C)the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ households, ^(D)made an offering (they were the leaders of the tribes; they were the ^[a]supervisors over the ^[b]numbered men). ³ When they brought their offering before the Lord, six ^(E)covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders and an ox for each one, then they presented them in front of the tabernacle. ⁴ Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ⁵ “Accept these things from them, that they may be ^[c]used in the service of the tent of meeting, and you shall give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.” ⁶ So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. ⁷ Two carts and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon, according to ^(F)their service, ⁸ and four carts and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari, according to ^(G)their service, ^[d]under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. ⁹ But he did not give any to the sons of Kohath, because theirs was ^(H)the service of the holy objects, which they carried on the shoulder.

¹⁰ And the leaders offered the dedication offering ^[e]for the altar ^[f]when ^(I)it was anointed, so the leaders offered their offering before the altar. ¹¹ Then the Lord said to Moses, “They shall present their offering, one leader each day, for the dedication of the altar.”

¹² Now the one who presented his offering on the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah; ¹³ and his offering was one silver ^[g](J)dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels ^(K)in ^[h]sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ¹⁴ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ¹⁵ one ^[i]bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ^16 (L)one male goat as a sin offering; ¹⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of ^(M)Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

¹⁸ On the second day Nethanel the son of Zuar, leader of Issachar, presented an offering; ¹⁹ he presented as his offering one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ²⁰ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ²¹ one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ²² one male goat as a sin offering; ²³ and for the sacrifice of ^(N)peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Nethanel the son of Zuar.

²⁴ On the third day it was Eliab the son of Helon, leader of the sons of Zebulun; ²⁵ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ²⁶ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ²⁷ one bull, one ram, and one ^(O)male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ²⁸ one male goat as a sin offering; ²⁹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Eliab the son of Helon.

³⁰ On the fourth day it was Elizur the son of Shedeur, leader of the sons of Reuben; ³¹ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ³² one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ³³ one bull, one ram, and one ^(P)male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ³⁴ one male goat as a sin offering; ³⁵ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Elizur the son of Shedeur.

³⁶ On the fifth day it was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, leader of the sons of Simeon; ³⁷ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ³⁸ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ³⁹ one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁴⁰ one male goat as a sin offering; ⁴¹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

⁴² On the sixth day it was ^(Q)Eliasaph the son of Deuel, leader of the sons of Gad; ⁴³ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of ^(R)fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁴⁴ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ^45 (S)one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁴⁶ one male goat as a sin offering; ⁴⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

⁴⁸ On the seventh day it was ^(T)Elishama the son of Ammihud, leader of the sons of Ephraim; ⁴⁹ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁵⁰ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of ^(U)incense; ^51 (V)one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁵² one male goat as a sin offering; ⁵³ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Elishama the son of Ammihud.

⁵⁴ On the eighth day it was ^(W)Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, leader of the sons of Manasseh; ⁵⁵ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁵⁶ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of ^(X)incense; ⁵⁷ one bull, one ram, and one ^(Y)male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁵⁸ one male goat as a sin offering; ⁵⁹ and for the ^(Z)sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

⁶⁰ On the ninth day it was ^(AA)Abidan the son of Gideoni, leader of the sons of Benjamin; ⁶¹ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁶² one gold pan of ten shekels, full of ^(AB)incense; ⁶³ one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁶⁴ one male goat as a ^(AC)sin offering; ⁶⁵ and for the sacrifice of ^(AD)peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Abidan the son of Gideoni.

⁶⁶ On the tenth day it was ^(AE)Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, leader of the sons of Dan; ⁶⁷ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary ^(AF)shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁶⁸ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of ^(AG)incense; ⁶⁹ one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁷⁰ one male goat as a sin offering; ⁷¹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

⁷² On the eleventh day it was ^(AH)Pagiel the son of Ochran, leader of the sons of Asher; ⁷³ his offering was also one silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁷⁴ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of ^(AI)incense; ⁷⁵ one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁷⁶ one male goat as a sin offering; ⁷⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Pagiel the son of Ochran.

⁷⁸ On the twelfth day it was ^(AJ)Ahira the son of Enan, leader of the sons of Naphtali; ⁷⁹ his offering was also one ^(AK)silver dish whose weight was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy shekels in sanctuary shekels, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; ⁸⁰ one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁸¹ one bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; ⁸² one male goat as a sin offering; ⁸³ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Ahira the son of Enan.

⁸⁴ This was ^(AL)the dedication offering ^[j]for the altar from the leaders of Israel ^[k]when ^(AM)it was anointed: twelve silver dishes, twelve silver bowls, and twelve gold pans, ⁸⁵ each silver dish weighing 130 shekels and each bowl seventy; all the silver of the utensils totaled 2,400 in sanctuary shekels; ⁸⁶ the twelve gold pans full of incense, weighing ten shekels apiece in sanctuary ^(AN)shekels, all the gold of the pans totaled 120 shekels. ⁸⁷ All the oxen for the burnt offering totaled twelve bulls, all the rams, twelve, the male lambs one year old with their grain offering, twelve, and the male goats as a sin offering, twelve; ⁸⁸ and all the oxen for the sacrifice of peace offerings totaled twenty-four bulls, all the rams, sixty, the male goats, sixty, and the male lambs one year old, sixty. ^(AO)This was the dedication offering for the altar after it was anointed.

⁸⁹ Now when ^(AP)Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above ^(AQ)the ^[l]atoning cover that was on the ark of the testimony, from ^(AR)between the two ^[m]cherubim; so He spoke to him.

Paul Is Sent to Rome

27 Now when it was decided that ^(A)we ^(B)would sail for ^(C)Italy, they proceeded to turn Paul and some other prisoners over to a centurion of the Augustan ^[a](D)cohort, named Julius. ² And we boarded an Adramyttian ship that was about to sail to the regions along the coast of ^[b](E)Asia, and put out to sea accompanied by ^(F)Aristarchus, a ^(G)Macedonian of ^(H)Thessalonica. ³ The next day we put in at ^(I)Sidon; and Julius ^(J)treated Paul with consideration and ^(K)allowed him to go to his friends and receive care. ⁴ From there we put out to sea and sailed under the shelter of ^(L)Cyprus, because ^(M)the winds were contrary. ⁵ When we had sailed through the sea along the coast of ^(N)Cilicia and ^(O)Pamphylia, we landed at Myra in Lycia. ⁶ There the centurion found an ^(P)Alexandrian ship sailing for ^(Q)Italy, and he put us aboard it. ⁷ When we had sailed slowly for a good many days, and with difficulty had arrived off Cnidus, ^(R)since the wind did not permit us to go farther, we sailed under the shelter of ^(S)Crete, off Salmone; ⁸ and with difficulty ^(T)sailing past it, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near which was the city of Lasea.

⁹ When considerable time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous, since even ^(U)the ^[c]fast was already over, Paul started admonishing them, ¹⁰ saying to them, “Men, I perceive that the voyage will certainly be with ^(V)damage and great loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.” ¹¹ But the centurion was more persuaded by the ^(W)pilot and the ^[d]captain of the ship than by what was being said by Paul. ¹² The harbor was not suitable for wintering, so the majority reached a decision to put out to sea from there, if somehow they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of ^(X)Crete facing southwest and northwest, and spend the winter there.

^13 [e]When a moderate south wind came up, thinking that they had attained their purpose, they weighed anchor and began ^(Y)sailing along ^(Z)Crete, closer to shore.

Shipwreck

¹⁴ But before very long a violent wind, called ^[f]Euraquilo, ^(AA)rushed down from ^[g]the land; ¹⁵ and when the ship was caught in it and could not head up into the wind, we gave up and let ourselves be driven by the wind. ¹⁶ Running under the shelter of a small island called Cauda, we were able to get the ship’s ^[h]boat under control only with difficulty. ¹⁷ After they had hoisted it up, they used ^[i]supporting cables in undergirding the ship; and fearing that they might ^(AB)run aground on the shallows of Syrtis, they let down the ^[j]sea anchor and let themselves be driven along in this way. ¹⁸ The next day as we were being violently tossed by the storm, ^[k]they began to ^(AC)jettison the cargo; ¹⁹ and on the third day they threw the ship’s tackle overboard with their own hands. ²⁰ Since neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm was assailing us, from then on all hope of our being saved was slowly abandoned.

^21 [l]When many had lost their appetites, Paul then stood among them and said, “^[m](AD)Men, you should have followed my advice and not have set sail from ^(AE)Crete, and thereby spared yourselves this ^(AF)damage and loss. ²² And yet now I urge you to ^(AG)keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. ²³ For this very night ^(AH)an angel of the God to whom I belong, ^(AI)whom I also serve, ^(AJ)came to me, ²⁴ saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; ^(AK)you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has graciously granted you ^(AL)all those who are sailing with you.’ ²⁵ Therefore, ^(AM)keep up your courage, men, for I believe God that ^[n]it will turn out exactly as I have been told. ²⁶ But we must ^(AN)run aground on a certain ^(AO)island.”

²⁷ But when the fourteenth night came, as we were being driven about in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors began to suspect that ^[o]they were approaching some land. ²⁸ And they took soundings and found it to be twenty fathoms; and a little farther on they took another sounding and found it to be fifteen fathoms. ²⁹ Fearing that we might ^(AP)run aground somewhere on the ^[p]rocks, they cast four anchors from the stern and ^[q]prayed for daybreak. ³⁰ But as the sailors were trying to escape from the ship and had let down ^(AQ)the ship’s boat into the sea, on the pretense that they were going to lay out anchors from the bow, ³¹ Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men remain on the ship, you yourselves cannot be saved.” ³² Then the soldiers cut away the ^(AR)ropes of the ship’s boat and let it fall away.

³³ Until the day was about to dawn, Paul kept encouraging them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you have been constantly watching and going without eating, having taken in nothing. ³⁴ Therefore, I encourage you to take some food, for this is for your survival, for ^(AS)not a hair from the head of any of you will perish.” ³⁵ Having said this, he took bread and ^(AT)gave thanks to God in the presence of them all, and he broke it and began to eat. ³⁶ All ^(AU)of them ^[r]were encouraged and they themselves also took food. ³⁷ We were 276 ^[s](AV)people on the ship in all. ³⁸ When they had eaten enough, they began lightening the ship by ^(AW)throwing the wheat out into the sea.

³⁹ Now when day came, ^(AX)they ^[t]could not recognize the land; but they did notice a bay with a beach, and they resolved to run the ship onto it if they could. ⁴⁰ And casting off ^(AY)the anchors, they left them in the sea while at the same time they were loosening the ropes of the rudders; and they hoisted the foresail to the wind and were heading for the beach. ⁴¹ But they struck a ^[u]reef where two seas met and ran the ship aground; and the prow stuck firmly and remained immovable, while the stern started to break up due to the force of the waves. ⁴² The soldiers’ plan was to ^(AZ)kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim away and escape; ⁴³ but the centurion, ^(BA)wanting to bring Paul safely through, kept them from accomplishing their intention, and commanded that those who could swim were to ^[v]jump overboard first and get to land, ⁴⁴ and the rest were to follow, some on planks, and others on various things from the ship. And so it happened that ^(BB)they all were brought safely to land.
