15 When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, when the camp is to set out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them by the poles, so that they will not touch the holy objects (A)and die. These are the [a]things in the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.

16 “Now the responsibility of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest is (B)the oil for the light, the (C)fragrant incense, (D)the continual grain offering, and (E)the anointing oil—the responsibility of all the [b]tabernacle and everything that is in it, with the sanctuary and its furnishings.”

17 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 18 “Do not let the tribe of the families of the Kohathites be eliminated from among the Levites. 19 Rather, do this for them so that they will live and (F)not die when they approach the most holy objects: Aaron and his sons shall go in and assign each of them to his work and to his load; 20 but (G)they shall not come in to see the holy objects even for a moment, or they will die.”

15 “After Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy furnishings and all the holy articles, and when the camp is ready to move,(A) only then are the Kohathites(B) to come and do the carrying.(C) But they must not touch the holy things(D) or they will die.(E) The Kohathites are to carry those things that are in the tent of meeting.

16 “Eleazar(F) son of Aaron, the priest, is to have charge of the oil for the light,(G) the fragrant incense,(H) the regular grain offering(I) and the anointing oil. He is to be in charge of the entire tabernacle and everything in it, including its holy furnishings and articles.”

17 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 18 “See that the Kohathite tribal clans are not destroyed from among the Levites. 19 So that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things,(J) do this for them: Aaron and his sons(K) are to go into the sanctuary and assign to each man his work and what he is to carry.(L) 20 But the Kohathites must not go in to look(M) at the holy things, even for a moment, or they will die.”
