¹⁸ But Balaam replied to the servants of Balak, “^(A)Even if Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything, either small or great, contrary to the ^[a]command of the Lord my God.

¹³ ‘If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything contrary to the ^[a]command of the Lord, either good or bad, ^(A)of my own ^[b]accord. ^(B)What the Lord speaks, I will ^[c]speak’?

¹⁶ But he said, “^(A)I cannot return with you, nor come with you, nor will I eat bread or drink water with you in this place. ¹⁷ For a ^[a]command came to me ^(B)by the word of the Lord: ‘You shall not eat bread, nor drink water there; do not return by going the way that you came.’”
