Moses Pleads for the People

^11 (A)And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people be disrespectful to Me? And how long will ^(B)they not ^[a]believe in Me, despite all the signs that I have performed in their midst?

¹² And those beside the road are the ones who have heard, then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.

³⁸ The one who believes in Me, ^(A)as the Scripture said, ‘^[a]From his innermost being will flow rivers of ^(B)living water.’” ³⁹ But this He said ^(C)in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for ^(D)the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet ^(E)glorified.

¹⁹ You believe that ^[a](A)God is one. ^(B)You do well; ^(C)the demons also believe, and shudder.

⁵ You know that He ^(A)appeared in order to ^(B)take away sins; and ^(C)in Him there is no sin. ⁶ No one who remains in Him ^(D)sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or ^[a](E)knows Him. ^7 (F)Little children, make sure no one ^(G)deceives you; ^(H)the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; ⁸ the one who practices sin is ^(I)of the devil; for the devil ^[b]has been sinning from the beginning. ^(J)The Son of God ^(K)appeared for this purpose, ^(L)to destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ No one who has been ^(M)born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ By this the ^(N)children of God and the ^(O)children of the devil are obvious: ^[c]anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who ^(P)does not love his ^(Q)brother and sister.
