14 from Gad, Eliasaph the son of (A)Deuel; 15 from Naphtali, (B)Ahira the son of Enan.” 16 These were the ones (C)chosen from the congregation, (D)the chiefs of their ancestral tribes, the heads of the clans of Israel.
17 Moses and Aaron took these men (E)who had been named, 18 and on the first day of the second month, they assembled the whole congregation together, who registered themselves by clans, by fathers' houses, according to the number of names from twenty years old and upward, head by head, 19 as the Lord commanded Moses. So he listed them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 The people of (F)Reuben, Israel's firstborn, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go to war: 21 those listed of the tribe of Reuben were (G)46,500.
22 Of the people of Simeon, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, those of them who were listed, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go to war: 23 those listed of the tribe of Simeon were (H)59,300.
24 Of the people of Gad, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go to war: 25 those listed of the tribe of Gad were (I)45,650.
26 Of the people of Judah, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, every man able to go to war: 27 those listed of the tribe of Judah were (J)74,600.
28 Of the people of Issachar, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, every man able to go to war: 29 those listed of the tribe of Issachar were (K)54,400.
30 Of the people of Zebulun, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, every man able to go to war: 31 those listed of the tribe of Zebulun were (L)57,400.

20 From the descendants of Reuben(M) the firstborn son(N) of Israel:
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families. 21 The number from the tribe of Reuben(O) was 46,500.

Josiah Restores the Passover
21 And the king commanded all the people, (A)“Keep the Passover to the Lord your God, (B)as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.” 22 (C)For no such Passover had been kept since the days of the judges who judged Israel, or during all the days of the kings of Israel or of the kings of Judah. 23 But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah this Passover was kept to the Lord in Jerusalem.
24 Moreover, Josiah put away (D)the mediums and the necromancers and (E)the household gods and (F)the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish (G)the words of the law that were written in the book (H)that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord. 25 (I)Before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses, nor did any like him arise after him.
26 Still the Lord did not turn from the burning of his great wrath, by which his anger was kindled against Judah, (J)because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him. 27 And the Lord said, “I will remove Judah also out of my sight, (K)as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city that I have chosen, Jerusalem, (L)and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.”
Josiah's Death in Battle
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 29 (M)In his days (N)Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went up to the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates. King Josiah went to meet him, and Pharaoh Neco killed him at (O)Megiddo, as soon as he saw him. 30 (P)And his servants carried him dead in a chariot from (Q)Megiddo and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. (R)And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.
Jehoahaz's Reign and Captivity
31 (S)Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was (T)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 32 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, (U)according to all that his fathers had done. 33 And (V)Pharaoh Neco put him in bonds at (W)Riblah in the land of (X)Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem, and laid on the land a tribute of a hundred talents[a] of silver and a talent of gold. 34 And (Y)Pharaoh Neco made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and (Z)changed his name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz away, (AA)and he came to Egypt and died there. 35 And Jehoiakim (AB)gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh, but he taxed the land to give the money according to the command of Pharaoh. He exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, from everyone according to his assessment, to give it to Pharaoh Neco.
Jehoiakim Reigns in Judah
36 (AC)Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zebidah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. 37 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, (AD)according to all that his fathers had done.
24 (AE)In his days, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 And the Lord sent against him bands of the (AF)Chaldeans and (AG)bands of the Syrians and bands of the Moabites and bands of the Ammonites, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, (AH)according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by his servants the prophets. 3 Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the Lord, to remove them out of his sight, (AI)for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 and also (AJ)for the innocent blood that he had shed. For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord would not pardon. 5 (AK)Now the rest of the deeds of Jehoiakim and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 6 So Jehoiakim (AL)slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place. 7 (AM)And the king of Egypt did not come again out of his land, (AN)for the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt (AO)from the Brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates.

24 Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists,(D) the household gods,(E) the idols and all the other detestable(F) things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord. 25 Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned(G) to the Lord as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.(H)
26 Nevertheless, the Lord did not turn away from the heat of his fierce anger,(I) which burned against Judah because of all that Manasseh(J) had done to arouse his anger. 27 So the Lord said, “I will remove(K) Judah also from my presence(L) as I removed Israel, and I will reject(M) Jerusalem, the city I chose, and this temple, about which I said, ‘My Name shall be there.’[a]”
28 As for the other events of Josiah’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
29 While Josiah was king, Pharaoh Necho(N) king of Egypt went up to the Euphrates River to help the king of Assyria. King Josiah marched out to meet him in battle, but Necho faced him and killed him at Megiddo.(O) 30 Josiah’s servants brought his body in a chariot(P) from Megiddo to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and anointed him and made him king in place of his father.

31 Jehoahaz(R) was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Hamutal(S) daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. 32 He did evil(T) in the eyes of the Lord, just as his predecessors had done. 33 Pharaoh Necho put him in chains at Riblah(U) in the land of Hamath(V) so that he might not reign in Jerusalem, and he imposed on Judah a levy of a hundred talents[b] of silver and a talent[c] of gold. 34 Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim(W) son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah and changed Eliakim’s name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt, and there he died.(X) 35 Jehoiakim paid Pharaoh Necho the silver and gold he demanded. In order to do so, he taxed the land and exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land according to their assessments.(Y)
Jehoiakim King of Judah(Z)
36 Jehoiakim(AA) was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Zebidah daughter of Pedaiah; she was from Rumah. 37 And he did evil(AB) in the eyes of the Lord, just as his predecessors had done.
24 During Jehoiakim’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar(AC) king of Babylon invaded(AD) the land, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. But then he turned against Nebuchadnezzar and rebelled.(AE) 2 The Lord sent Babylonian,[d](AF) Aramean,(AG) Moabite and Ammonite raiders(AH) against him to destroy(AI) Judah, in accordance with the word of the Lord proclaimed by his servants the prophets.(AJ) 3 Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord’s command,(AK) in order to remove them from his presence(AL) because of the sins of Manasseh(AM) and all he had done, 4 including the shedding of innocent blood.(AN) For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive.(AO)
5 As for the other events of Jehoiakim’s reign,(AP) and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 6 Jehoiakim rested(AQ) with his ancestors. And Jehoiachin(AR) his son succeeded him as king.
7 The king of Egypt(AS) did not march out from his own country again, because the king of Babylon(AT) had taken all his territory, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

24 (A)In the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 2 (B)“Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. 3 And (C)utter a parable to (D)the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God:
“Set on (E)the pot, set it on;
pour in water also;
4 put in it the pieces of meat,
all the good pieces, (F)the thigh and the shoulder;
fill it with choice bones.
5 Take the choicest one of the flock;
pile the logs[a] under it;
boil it well;
seethe also its bones in it.
6 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: (G)Woe to the bloody city, to (H)the pot whose corrosion is in it, and whose corrosion has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice.[b] 7 For the blood she has shed is in her midst; she put it on (I)the bare rock; (J)she did not pour it out on the ground to cover it with dust. 8 To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered. 9 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city! (K)I also will make the pile great. 10 Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil the meat well, mix in the spices,[c] and let the bones be burned up. 11 Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, (L)that its uncleanness may be melted in it, its corrosion consumed. 12 (M)She has wearied herself with toil;[d] its abundant corrosion does not go out of it. Into the fire with its corrosion! 13 On account of your unclean lewdness, because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your uncleanness, (N)you shall not be cleansed anymore till (O)I have satisfied my fury upon you. 14 (P)I am the Lord. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; (Q)I will not spare; (R)I will not relent; (S)according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the Lord God.”
