Ang Pulong Sa Dios
Gibabagan ang Pag-ayo sa Paril
4 Sa dihang nabalitaan ni Sanbalat nga giayo namo ang paril, nasuko siya pag-ayo ug gibiaybiay niya kaming mga Judio. 2 Atubangan sa iyang mga kauban ug sa mga sundalo sa Samaria, miingon siya, “Unsa bay ginahimo niining huyang nga mga Judio? Naghunahuna ba sila nga mapatindog nila pag-usab ang paril sa Jerusalem sa usa lang ka adlaw ug makahalad sila pag-usab? Abi tingali nilag magamit pa nila ang mga sunog ug dugmok na nga mga bato sa paril!” 3 Mitubag usab si Tobia nga Amonihanon nga diha sa tapad ni Sanbalat, “Bisan ug ihalas nga iro lang ang mokatkat diha matumpag na kana!”
4 Unya nagaampo ako, “O Dios namo, pamatia kami kay ginabiay-biay kami. Mahitabo unta kanila ang mga pagbiaybiay nila kanamo. Hinaut pa nga bihagon sila ngadto sa ubang dapit. 5 Ayaw sila pasayloa tungod kay giinsulto ka nila[a] atubangan kanamo nga nagatrabaho sa paril.”
6 Napatindog namo ang katunga na sa kahabugon sa paril tungod kay ang mga tawo nagtrabaho gayod ug maayo. 7-8 Apan sa dihang nabalitaan nila ni Sanbalat, Tobia, ug sa mga Arabo, taga-Ammon, ug mga taga-Ashdod nga padayon ang pagpatindog sa paril sa Jerusalem ug ang mga bangag niini natapakan na, nasuko sila pag-ayo. Nagplano silang tanan nga sulongon ang Jerusalem ug samokon kami. 9 Apan nagaampo kami sa among Dios ug nagbutang ug mga guwardya adlaw ug gabii sa pagpanalipod sa among kaugalingon.
10-11 Apan miingon ang mga taga-Juda, “Gikapoy na kami sa pagtrabaho ug daghan pa gayod ang mga hakotonon nga mga salin sa pagkaguba, unsaon namo pagtrabaho sa paril?”
Samtang sa laing bahin, miingon ang among mga kaaway, “Pakalitan nato silag sulong ug pamatyon, ug unya maundang ang ilang trabaho.”
12 Ang mga Judio nga nagapuyo duol kanila nagpasidaan kanamo sa makadaghang higayon mahitungod sa ilang mga plano nga pagsulong. 13 Busa nagbutang ako ug mga tawo sa pagguwardya sa pinakamubo ug wala pa mahuman nga mga bahin sa paril. Gipaguwardya ko sila didto nga naggrupo sumala sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka pamilya, ug may mga armas sila nga mga espada, bangkaw, ug pana. 14 Gitan-aw ko ang sitwasyon ug unya, giadtoan ko ang mga opisyal ug ang mga lumulupyo ug giingnan, “Ayaw kamo kahadlok sa mga kaaway. Hinumdomi ninyo ang makagagahom ug katingalahan nga Ginoo, ug pakiggira kamo alang sa kaluwasan sa inyong mga katagilungsod, mga anak, mga asawa, ug mga panimalay.”
15 Sa dihang nabalitaan sa among mga kaaway nga nahibaloan namo ang ilang plano sa pagsulong kanamo, ug nakaamgo sila nga giguba sa Dios ang ilang plano, namalik kami sa among pagtrabaho sa paril. 16 Apan gikan niadtong adlawa, katunga lang sa akong mga tawo ang nagtrabaho sa paril, kay ang katunga nagguwardya nga nagsul-ob ug mga panagang sa lawas, ug nagdalag mga bangkaw, taming, ug pana. Ang mga opisyal mitindog sa luyo sa katawhan sa Juda 17 nga nagtrabaho sa paril. Ang mga tighakot ug mga materyales naghimo sa ilang trabaho sa usa nila ka kamot samtang ang pikas kamot naggunit ug armas. 18 Ang matag trabahante nagtakin sa ilang espada samtang nagtrabaho. Ang tigpatingog sa budyong diha kanunay sa akong tapad.
19 Giingnan ko ang mga pangulo, mga opisyal, ug ang katawhan, “Halapad ang atong ginatrabaho ug lagyo ang atong distansya sa usag usa. 20 Busa kon madungog ninyo ang tingog sa budyong, magtigom kamo dinhi kanako. Ang atong Dios mao ang makiggira alang kanato.”
21 Busa padayon ang among pagtrabaho gikan sa sayo sa buntag hangtod sa pagkagabii, ug ang katunga sa mga tawo nagaguwardya nga armado. 22 Niadtong higayona, miingon usab ako sa mga tawo nga nagpuyo sa gawas sa Jerusalem nga sila ug ang ilang mga sulugoon kinahanglan mosulod sa siyudad kon gabii aron magguwardya, ug sa adlaw makatrabaho na usab sila. 23 Ako ug ang akong mga paryente, mga tawo, ug mga guwardya dili na mag-ilis sa among mga bisti. Ug bisan moadto sa tubig dala namo ang among mga armas.

Opposition to the Rebuilding
4 [a]When Sanballat(A) heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2 and in the presence of his associates(B) and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble(C)—burned as they are?”
3 Tobiah(D) the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!”(E)
4 Hear us, our God, for we are despised.(F) Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5 Do not cover up their guilt(G) or blot out their sins from your sight,(H) for they have thrown insults in the face of[b] the builders.
6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.
7 But when Sanballat, Tobiah,(I) the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. 8 They all plotted together(J) to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. 9 But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.
10 Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, “The strength of the laborers(K) is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall.”
11 Also our enemies said, “Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work.”
12 Then the Jews who lived near them came and told us ten times over, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”
13 Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. 14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid(L) of them. Remember(M) the Lord, who is great and awesome,(N) and fight(O) for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
15 When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it,(P) we all returned to the wall, each to our own work.
16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon(Q) in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet(R) stayed with me.
19 Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. 20 Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet,(S) join us there. Our God will fight(T) for us!”
21 So we continued the work with half the men holding spears, from the first light of dawn till the stars came out. 22 At that time I also said to the people, “Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so they can serve us as guards by night and as workers by day.” 23 Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.[c]
