⁹But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

⁹Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

⁸And the lookout^[a]^(A) shouted,

“Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower;
every night I stay at my post.

⁸And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:
