¹² And next to him was Shallum the son of Hallohesh, leader of half the district of Jerusalem; he and his daughters made repairs.

Anna Bears Witness to the Redeemer

³⁶ Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of ^(A)Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; ³⁷ and this woman was a widow ^[a]of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers ^(B)night and day. ³⁸ And coming in that instant she gave thanks to ^[b]the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who ^(C)looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

The Empty Tomb^(A)

20 Now the ^(B)first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the ^(C)stone had been taken away from the tomb. ² Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the ^(D)other disciple, ^(E)whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”

¹⁰ Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.

Mary Magdalene Sees the Risen Lord

^11 (A)But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. ¹² And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. ¹³ Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”

She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

^14 (B)Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and ^(C)did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, ^(D)“Mary!”

She turned and said to ^[a]Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ^(E)ascended to My Father; but go to ^(F)My brethren and say to them, ^(G)‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to ^(H)My God and your God.’ ”

^18 (I)Mary Magdalene came and told the ^[b]disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.

¹⁴ Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of ^(A)Thyatira, who worshiped God. ^(B)The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. ¹⁵ And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So ^(C)she persuaded us.

⁹ Now this man had four virgin daughters ^(A)who prophesied.
