(A)Who can stand before His indignation?
Who can endure the (B)burning of His anger?
His (C)wrath gushes forth like fire,
And the (D)rocks are broken up by Him.
The Lord is (E)good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble,
And (F)He knows those who take refuge in Him.
But with an (G)overflowing flood
He will make a complete end of [a]its site,
And will pursue His enemies into (H)darkness.

Whatever you (I)devise against the Lord,
He will make a (J)complete end of it.
Distress will not rise up twice.
10 Like tangled (K)thorns,
And like those who are (L)drunken with their drink,
They are (M)consumed
Like stubble completely dried up.
11 From you has gone out
One who (N)plotted evil against the Lord,
A [b](O)wicked counselor.

12 This is what the Lord says:

“Though they are at full strength and so they are many,
So also they will be (P)cut off and pass away.
Though I have afflicted you,
I will afflict you (Q)no longer.
13 So now, I will (R)break his yoke from upon you,
And I will tear your shackles to pieces.”
