²⁸ And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two ^[a]possessed with demons, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way. ²⁹ And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

¹¹ And the unclean spirits, whensoever they beheld him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

⁴¹ And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

²⁷ And when he was come forth upon the land, there met him a certain man out of the city, who had demons; and for a long time he had worn no clothes, and abode not in any house, but in the tombs. ²⁸ And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee, torment me not.
