³ and asked Him, “Are You the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”^(A)

⁹ Then the crowds who went ahead of Him and those who followed kept shouting:

³⁹ For I tell you, you will never see Me again until you say, ‘He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One’!”^(A)[a]

⁹ Then those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting:

¹⁹ and sent them to the Lord, asking, “Are You the One^(A) who is to come, or should we look for someone else?”

²⁰ When the men reached Him, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to ask You, ‘Are You the One who is to come, or should we look for someone else?’”

³⁵ See, your house^[a] is abandoned to you.^(A) And I tell you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One’!”^(B)[b]

¹⁴ When the people saw the sign^[a] He had done, they said, “This really is the Prophet^(A) who was to come^(B) into the world!”^(C)
