⁹ And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John ^[a]in the Jordan. ¹⁰ And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent asunder, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him: ¹¹ and a voice came out of the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

² And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and ^[a]James, and John, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them; ³ and his garments became glistering, exceeding white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten them. ⁴ And there appeared unto them Elijah with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. ⁵ And Peter answereth and saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three ^[b]tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. ⁶ For he knew not what to answer; for they became sore afraid. ⁷ And there came a cloud overshadowing them: and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him.

²¹ Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, ²² and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

²⁸ And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray. ²⁹ And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and dazzling. ³⁰ And behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah; ³¹ who appeared in glory, and spake of his ^[a]decease which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. ³² Now Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: but ^[b]when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. ³³ And it came to pass, as they were parting from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three ^[c]tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said. ³⁴ And while he said these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. ³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is ^[d]my Son, my chosen: hear ye him.

³² And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him. ³³ And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize ^[a]in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth ^[b]in the Holy Spirit. ³⁴ And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.
