The Coming Judgment on Israel

Hear, all you peoples!
Listen, O earth, and all that is in it!
Let the Lord God be a witness against you,
The Lord from (A)His holy temple.

For behold, the Lord is coming out of His place;
He will come down
And tread on the high places of the earth.
(B)The mountains will melt under Him,
And the valleys will split
Like wax before the fire,
Like waters poured down a steep place.

Footnotes

  1. Micah 1:2 Because of the malice and obstinacy of the people, whom he had so oft exhorted to repentance, he summoneth them to God’s judgments, taking all creatures, and God himself to witness, that the preaching of his Prophets, which they have abused, shall be revenged.
  2. Micah 1:3 Meaning hereby, that God will come to judgment against the strong cities and holds.

Hear, O peoples, all of them! Attend, O earth, and its fulness, And the Lord Jehovah is against you for a witness, The Lord from His holy temple.

For lo, Jehovah is going out from His place, And He hath come down, And hath trodden on high places of earth.

Melted have been the mountains under Him, And the valleys do rend themselves, As wax from the presence of fire, As waters cast down by a slope.
