22 眼 睛 就 是 身 上 的 燈 。 你 的 眼 睛 若 瞭 亮 , 全 身 就 光 明 ;

13 你 們 要 進 窄 門 。 因 為 引 到 滅 亡 , 那 門 是 寬 的 , 路 是 大 的 , 進 去 的 人 也 多 ;

24 所 以 , 凡 聽 見 我 這 話 就 去 行 的 , 好 比 一 個 聰 明 人 , 把 房 子 蓋 在 磐 石 上 ;

26 凡 聽 見 我 這 話 不 去 行 的 , 好 比 一 個 無 知 的 人 , 把 房 子 蓋 在 沙 土 上 ;

28 耶 穌 講 完 了 這 些 話 , 眾 人 都 希 奇 他 的 教 訓 ;

11 我 又 告 訴 你 們 , 從 東 從 西 , 將 有 許 多 人 來 , 在 天 國 裡 與 亞 伯 拉 罕 、 以 撒 、 雅 各 一 同 坐 席 ;

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal;

20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust spoils, and where thieves do not dig through nor steal;

21 for where thy treasure is, there will be also thy heart.

22 The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light:

23 but if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness!

24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 For this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?

26 Look at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are *ye* not much more excellent than they?

27 But which of you by carefulness can add to his growth one cubit?

28 And why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;

29 but I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.

30 But if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into [the] oven, will he not much rather you, O [ye] of little faith?

31 Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?

32 for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day [is] its own evil.

Judge not, that ye may not be judged;

for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.

But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow [me], I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye?

Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother.

Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you.

Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone;

10 and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?

11 If therefore *ye*, being wicked, know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him?

12 Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

13 Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.

14 For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it.

15 But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves.

16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?

17 So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits.

18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits.

19 Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

20 By their fruits then surely ye shall know them.

21 Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens.

22 Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power?

23 and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.

24 Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;

25 and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.

26 And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;

27 and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine,

29 for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes.

And when he had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.

And behold, a leper came up to [him] and did him homage, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me.

And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

And Jesus says to him, See thou tell no man, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.

And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him,

and saying, Lord, my servant lies paralytic in the house, suffering grievously.

And Jesus says to him, *I* will come and heal him.

And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not fit that thou shouldest enter under my roof; but only speak a word, and my servant shall be healed.

For *I* also am a man under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to this [one], Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bondman, Do this, and he does it.

10 And when Jesus heard it, he wondered, and said to those who followed, Verily I say unto you, Not even in Israel have I found so great faith.

11 But I say unto you, that many shall come from [the] rising and setting [sun], and shall lie down at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens;

12 but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, be it to thee. And his servant was healed in that hour.

14 And when Jesus had come to Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law laid down and in a fever;

15 and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and served him.

16 And when the evening was come, they brought to him many possessed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were ill;

17 so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases.

18 And Jesus, seeing great crowds around him, commanded to depart to the other side.

19 And a scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou mayest go.

20 And Jesus says to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven roosting-places; but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head.

21 But another of his disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go away and bury my father.

22 But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.

23 And he went on board ship and his disciples followed him;

24 and behold, [the water] became very agitated on the sea, so that the ship was covered by the waves; but *he* slept.

25 And the disciples came and awoke him, saying, Lord save: we perish.

26 And he says to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, having arisen, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

27 But the men were astonished, saying, What sort [of man] is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?

28 And there met him, when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, two possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding dangerous, so that no one was able to pass by that way.

29 And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? hast thou come here before the time to torment us?

30 Now there was, a great way off from them, a herd of many swine feeding;

31 and the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.

32 And he said to them, Go. And they, going out, departed into the herd of swine; and lo, the whole herd [of swine] rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the waters.

33 But they that fed them fled, and went away into the city and related everything, and what had happened as to those possessed by demons.

34 And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged [him] to go away out of their coasts.

And going on board the ship, he passed over and came to his own city.

Treasures in Heaven(A)

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,(B) where moths and vermin destroy,(C) and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,(D) where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.(E) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.(F)

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.(G)

Do Not Worry(H)

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry(I) about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.(J) Are you not much more valuable than they?(K) 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[c]?(L)

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor(M) was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?(N) 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.(O) 33 But seek first his kingdom(P) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.(Q) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Judging Others(R)

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.(S) For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.(T)

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Ask, Seek, Knock(U)

“Ask and it will be given to you;(V) seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;(W) and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts(X) to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,(Y) for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.(Z)

The Narrow and Wide Gates

13 “Enter through the narrow gate.(AA) For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets.(AB) They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.(AC) 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.(AD) Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?(AE) 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.(AF) 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.(AG) 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’(AH) will enter the kingdom of heaven,(AI) but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.(AJ) 22 Many will say to me on that day,(AK) ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’(AL) 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’(AM)

The Wise and Foolish Builders(AN)

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice(AO) is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things,(AP) the crowds were amazed at his teaching,(AQ) 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(AR)

When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy[d](AS) came and knelt before him(AT) and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone.(AU) But go, show yourself to the priest(AV) and offer the gift Moses commanded,(AW) as a testimony to them.”

The Faith of the Centurion(AX)

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed,(AY) suffering terribly.”

Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.(AZ) For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.(BA) 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west,(BB) and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.(BC) 12 But the subjects of the kingdom(BD) will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”(BE)

13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.”(BF) And his servant was healed at that moment.

Jesus Heals Many(BG)

14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.

16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.(BH) 17 This was to fulfill(BI) what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

“He took up our infirmities
    and bore our diseases.”[e](BJ)

The Cost of Following Jesus(BK)

18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.(BL) 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man(BM) has no place to lay his head.”

21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

Jesus Calms the Storm(BO)(BP)

26 He replied, “You of little faith,(BQ) why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.(BR)

Jesus Restores Two Demon-Possessed Men(BS)

28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[f] two demon-possessed(BT) men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us,(BU) Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”(BV)

30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”

32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.(BW)
