^46 (A)For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? ⁴⁷ And if you greet your ^[a]brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the ^[b]tax collectors do so? ^48 (B)Therefore you shall be perfect, just ^(C)as your Father in heaven is perfect.

^32 (A)“But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. ³³ And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. ^34 (B)And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. ³⁵ But ^(C)love your enemies, ^(D)do good, and ^(E)lend, ^[a]hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and ^(F)you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. ^36 (G)Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
