Lay Up Treasures in Heaven^(A)

^19 (B)“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; ^20 (C)but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The Lamp of the Body^(D)

^22 (E)“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is ^[a]good, your whole body will be full of light. ²³ But if your eye is ^[b]bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

You Cannot Serve God and Riches

^24 (F)“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. ^(G)You cannot serve God and ^[c]mammon.

Do Not Worry^(H)

²⁵ “Therefore I say to you, ^(I)do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

³³ But ^(A)seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

^28 (A)And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather ^(B)fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in ^[a]hell.

^37 (A)He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. ^38 (B)And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. ^39 (C)He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

^24 (B)Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and ^(C)follow Me. ²⁵ For ^(D)whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. ²⁶ For what ^(E)profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or ^(F)what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
