^17 (A)From that time Jesus began to ^[a]preach and say, “^(B)Repent, for the kingdom of heaven ^[b]is at hand.”

Jesus Preaches in Galilee

^14 (A)Now after John was ^[a]taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, ^[b](B)preaching the gospel of God, ¹⁵ and saying, “^(C)The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God ^[c]is at hand; ^(D)repent and ^[d]believe in the gospel.”

Jesus’ Public Ministry

¹⁴ And ^(A)Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and ^(B)news about Him spread through all the surrounding region. ¹⁵ And He began ^(C)teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.

²⁸ These things took place in Bethany ^(A)beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing people.

²⁹ The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him, and *said, “Behold, ^(B)the Lamb of God who ^(C)takes away the sin of the world! ³⁰ This is He in behalf of whom I said, ‘^(D)After me is coming a Man who has proved to be ^[a]my superior, ^(E)because He existed before me.’ ³¹ And I did not recognize ^[b]Him, but so that He would be revealed to Israel, I came baptizing ^[c]in water.” ³² And John ^(F)testified, saying, “^(G)I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. ³³ And I did not recognize ^[d]Him, but He who sent me to baptize ^[e]in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, ^(H)this is the One who baptizes ^[f]in the Holy Spirit.’ ³⁴ And I myself have seen, and have testified that this is ^(I)the ^[g]Son of God.”
