28 ^(A)Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and ^(B)the other Mary went to see the tomb.

16 ^(A)(B)When the Sabbath was past, ^(C)Mary Magdalene, ^(D)Mary the mother of James, and ^(E)Salome ^(F)bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.

⁵⁶ Then they returned and ^(A)prepared spices and ointments.

On the Sabbath they rested ^(B)according to the commandment.

Jesus' Side Is Pierced

³¹ Since it was ^(A)the day of Preparation, and ^(B)so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was ^(C)a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.
