¹² Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

¹³ But He answered and said, ^(A)“Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. ¹⁴ Let them alone. ^(B)They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

^14 [a]Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! ^(A)For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of ^[b]hell as yourselves.

¹⁶ “Woe to you, ^(B)blind guides, who say, ^(C)‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’
