²¹ “^(A)Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. ^22 (B)Many will say to Me on ^(C)that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many ^[a]miracles?’ ²³ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; ^(D)leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

Parable of Ten Virgins

25 “Then ^(A)the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their ^(B)lamps and went out to meet the groom. ² Five of them were foolish, and five were ^(C)prudent. ³ For when the foolish took their lamps, they did not take extra oil with them; ⁴ but the ^(D)prudent ones took oil in flasks with their lamps. ⁵ Now while the groom was delaying, they all became drowsy and began to sleep. ⁶ But at midnight ^[a]there finally was a shout: ‘Behold, the groom! Come out to meet him.’ ⁷ Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. ⁸ But the foolish virgins said to the prudent ones, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ ⁹ However, the ^(E)prudent ones answered, ‘No, there most certainly would not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ ¹⁰ But while they were ^[b]on their way to buy the oil, the groom came, and those who were ^(F)ready went in with him to ^(G)the wedding feast; and ^(H)the door was shut. ¹¹ Yet later, the other virgins also came, saying, ‘^(I)Lord, lord, open up for us.’ ¹² But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ ^13 (J)Be on the alert then, because you do not know the day nor the hour.

⁶¹ But Jesus, ^(A)aware that His disciples were complaining about this, said to them, “Is this ^[a](B)offensive to you? ⁶² What then if you see ^(C)the Son of Man ^(D)ascending to where He was before? ^63 (E)It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit; ^(F)the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life. ⁶⁴ But there are ^(G)some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus ^(H)knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and ^(I)who it was who would ^[b]betray Him. ⁶⁵ And He was saying, “For this reason I have ^(J)told you that no one can come to Me unless ^(K)it has been granted him from the Father.”

Peter’s Confession of Faith

⁶⁶ As a result of this many of His ^(L)disciples ^(M)left, and would no longer walk with Him.

¹² While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name, ^(A)which You have given Me; and I guarded them, and ^(B)not one of them perished except ^(C)the ^[a]son of destruction, so that the ^(D)Scripture would be fulfilled.

²⁶ I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my ^(A)countrymen, dangers from the ^(B)Gentiles, dangers in the ^(C)city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among ^(D)false brothers;

⁴ Yet it was a concern because of the ^(A)false brothers secretly brought in, who ^(B)had sneaked in to spy on our ^(C)freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to ^(D)enslave us.

²⁰ For if, after they have ^(A)escaped the defilements of the world by ^(B)the knowledge of the ^(C)Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again ^(D)entangled in them and are overcome, ^(E)the last state has become worse for them than the first. ^21 (F)For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from ^(G)the holy commandment ^(H)handed on to them. ^22 [a]It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “^(I)A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is ^(A)in Christ, this person is ^(B)a new ^[a]creation; ^(C)the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

¹⁴ For by one offering He has ^(A)perfected ^(B)for all time those who are ^[a]sanctified. ¹⁵ And ^(C)the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
