⁵ You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the ^[a]speck out of your brother’s eye!

Eight Woes

¹³ “^(A)But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, ^(B)because you shut the kingdom of heaven in front of people; for you do not enter it yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.^[a]

¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one ^[b](C)proselyte; and when he becomes one, you ^[c]make him twice as much a son of ^[d](D)hell as yourselves.

⁴² How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the ^[a]speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the ^[b]speck that is in your brother’s eye.

⁵⁶ You hypocrites! ^(A)You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you do not know how to analyze this present time?
