³⁴ But I say to you, ^(A)take no oath at all, neither by heaven, for it is ^(B)the throne of God,

³⁷ But make sure your statement is, ‘^[a]Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is ^[b]of ^(A)evil origin.

¹² But above all, ^(A)my brothers and sisters, ^(B)do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but ^[a]your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment.

^16 (A)For people swear an oath by ^[a]one greater than themselves, and with them ^(B)an oath serving as confirmation is an end of every dispute.

²³ But ^(A)I call God as witness to my soul, that it was ^(B)to spare you that I did not come again to ^(C)Corinth.

²⁵ So ^(A)I quarreled with them and cursed them, and ^(B)struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and ^(C)made them swear by God, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take any of their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.
