⁴⁵ that you may be children^(A) of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.^(B)

¹⁵ “Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human,^(A) like you. We are bringing you good news,^(B) telling you to turn from these worthless things^(C) to the living God,^(D) who made the heavens and the earth^(E) and the sea and everything in them.^{(F) 16} In the past, he let^(G) all nations go their own way.^{(H) 17} Yet he has not left himself without testimony:^(I) He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons;^(J) he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”^(K)

²⁶ Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.^(A) Are you not much more valuable than they?^(B)

²⁹ Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor^(A) was dressed like one of these. ³⁰ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?^(B)
