²⁵ Large crowds followed Him from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.^(A)

³ He went into all the vicinity of the Jordan,^(A) preaching a baptism of repentance^[a] for the forgiveness of sins,

²⁸ All this happened in Bethany^[a] across the Jordan,^[b](A) where John was baptizing.

²⁶ So they came to John and told him, “Rabbi,^(A) the One you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan,^(B) is baptizing—and everyone is flocking to Him.”^(C)

Many beyond the Jordan Believe in Jesus

⁴⁰ So He departed again across the Jordan^(A) to the place where John^(B) had been baptizing earlier, and He remained there.
