10 Then Jesus *said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘(A)You shall worship the Lord your God, and [a]serve Him only.’” 11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, (B)angels came and began to serve Him.

Jesus Begins His Ministry

12 Now when Jesus heard that (C)John had been taken into custody, (D)He withdrew into Galilee; 13 and leaving Nazareth, He came and (E)settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled:

15 (F)The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
[b]By the way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the [c]Gentiles
16 (G)The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,
And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death,
Upon them a Light dawned.”

17 (H)From that time Jesus began to [d]preach and say, (I)Repent, for the kingdom of heaven [e]is at hand.”

The First Disciples

18 (J)Now as Jesus was walking by (K)the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, (L)Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He *said to them, [f]Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of people.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, [g](M)James the son of Zebedee, and his brother [h]John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

Ministry in Galilee

23 Jesus was going (N)about in all of Galilee, (O)teaching in their synagogues and (P)proclaiming the [i]gospel of the kingdom, and (Q)healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

24 And the news about Him spread (R)throughout Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and severe pain, (S)demon-possessed, people with (T)epilepsy, and people who were (U)paralyzed; and He healed them. 25 Large crowds (V)followed Him from Galilee and (W)the Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and from (X)beyond the Jordan.

And he took hold of the (A)dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and (B)bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the (C)abyss and shut it and (D)sealed it over him, so that he would (E)not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

Satan Freed and Doomed

When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be (A)released from his prison, and will come out to (B)deceive the nations which are at the (C)four corners of the earth, (D)Gog and Magog, to (E)gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the (F)sand of the [a]seashore. And they (G)came up on the [b]broad plain of the earth and surrounded the (H)camp of the [c]saints and the (I)beloved city, and (J)fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And (K)the devil who (L)deceived them was thrown into the (M)lake of fire and [d]brimstone, where the (N)beast and the (O)false prophet are also; and they will be (P)tormented day and night forever and ever.
