³⁶ “But ^(A)about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. ³⁷ For ^[a]the ^(B)coming of the Son of Man will be ^(C)just like the days of Noah. ³⁸ For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, ^(D)marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that ^(E)Noah entered the ark, ³⁹ and they did not ^[b]understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the ^(F)coming of the Son of Man be. ⁴⁰ At that time there will be two men in the field; one ^[c]will be taken and one ^[d]will be left. ^41 (G)Two women will be grinding at the ^[e](H)mill; one ^[f]will be taken and one ^[g]will be left.

Be Ready for His Coming

⁴² “Therefore ^(I)be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “^(A)Do not let your heart be troubled; ^[a]believe in God, believe also in Me. ² In My Father’s house are many ^[b]rooms; if that were not so, ^[c]I would have told you, because ^(B)I am going there to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, ^(C)I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that ^(D)where I am, there you also will be.

¹⁰ And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, ^(A)two men in white clothing stood beside them, ¹¹ and they said, “^(B)Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who ^(C)has been taken up from you into heaven, will ^(D)come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

³⁹ We are ^(A)witnesses of all the things that He did both in the ^[a]country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on ^[b](B)a cross. ^40 (C)God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He ^[c]be revealed, ^41 (D)not to all the people, but to ^(E)witnesses who had been chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us ^(F)who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. ⁴² And He ^(G)ordered us to ^[d]preach to the people, and to ^(H)testify solemnly that this is the One who has been ^(I)appointed by God as ^(J)Judge of the living and the dead.

⁵ but they will give an account to Him who is ready to judge ^(A)the living and the dead.
