The Rich Young Ruler

¹⁶ Just then someone came up and asked Him,^(A) “Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”^(B)

¹⁷ “Why do you ask Me about what is good?”^[a] He said to him. “There is only One who is good.^[b] If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”^(C)

¹⁵ so that everyone who believes in Him will^[a] have eternal life.^(A)

⁴⁷ “I assure you: Anyone who believes^[a] has eternal life.

⁵⁴ Anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood^(A) has eternal life, and I will raise^(B) him up on the last day,

²⁸ I give them eternal life,^(A) and they will never perish^(B)—ever! No one will snatch^(C) them out of My hand.

⁴⁸ When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the message of the Lord, and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.

⁷ eternal life^(A) to those who by persistence in doing good^(B) seek glory, honor,^(C) and immortality;^(D)

²¹ so that, just as sin reigned in death,^(A) so also grace will reign^(B) through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
