¹⁷ And if he refuses to listen to them, ^(A)tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, ^(B)he is to be to you as ^[a]a Gentile and ^[b]a tax collector.

¹⁸ Truly I say to you, ^(A)whatever you ^[a]bind on earth ^[b]shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you ^[c]loose on earth ^[d]shall have been loosed in heaven.

^4 (A)In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and ^[a]I with you in spirit, ^(B)with the power of our Lord Jesus,

⁵ I have decided ^[a]to ^(A)turn such a person over to ^(B)Satan for the destruction of his ^[b]body, so that his spirit may be saved on ^(C)the day of the ^[c]Lord.

¹³ But those who are outside, God ^[a]judges. ^(A)Remove the evil person from among yourselves.

⁶ Sufficient for such a person is ^(A)this punishment which was imposed by the majority, ⁷ so that on the other hand, you should rather ^(B)forgive and comfort him, otherwise such a person might be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. ⁸ Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him.
