The Son Gives Knowledge and Rest

25 At that time Jesus said,(A) “I praise[a] You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.(B) 26 Yes, Father, because this was Your good pleasure.[b] 27 All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows[c] the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires[d] to reveal Him.(C)

28 “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.(D) 29 All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me,(E) because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves.(F) 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Lord of the Sabbath

12 At that time Jesus passed through the grainfields on the Sabbath.(G) His disciples(H) were hungry and began to pick and eat some heads of grain. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful(I) to do on the Sabbath!”

He said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry— how he entered the house of God, and they ate[e] the sacred bread, which is not lawful for him or for those with him to eat, but only for the priests?(J) Or haven’t you read in the Law[f] that on Sabbath days the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath and are innocent?(K) But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here!(L) If you had known what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice,(M)[g] you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”(N)
