20 But when he had thought this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “(A)Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for [a]the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a Son; and (B)you shall name Him Jesus, for [b]He (C)will save His people from their sins.” 22 Now all this [c]took place so that what was (D)spoken by the Lord through [d]the prophet would be fulfilled: 23 (E)Behold, the virgin will [e](F)conceive and give birth to a Son, and they shall name Him [f]Immanuel,” which translated means, “(G)God with us.” 24 And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, 25 [g]but kept her a virgin until she (H)gave birth to a Son; and (I)he named Him Jesus.

22 All this took place to fulfill(E) what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[b](F) (which means “God with us”).

24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel(G) of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.(H)
