The Authority of Jesus

²⁸ And when Jesus finished these sayings, ^(A)the crowds were astonished at his teaching, ^29 (B)for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

Jesus Cleanses a Leper

8 When he came down from the mountain, ^(C)great crowds followed him. ^2 (D)And behold, a leper^[a] came to him and ^(E)knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” ³ And Jesus^[b] stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. ⁴ And Jesus said to him, ^(F)“See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, ^(G)show yourself to the priest and ^(H)offer the gift that Moses commanded, ^(I)for a proof to them.”
