¹⁸ “Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
    the one I love, in whom I delight;^(A)
I will put my Spirit on him,^(B)
    and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
¹⁹ He will not quarrel or cry out;
    no one will hear his voice in the streets.
²⁰ A bruised reed he will not break,
    and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he has brought justice through to victory.
²¹     In his name the nations will put their hope.”^[a](C)

⁶ For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,^(A)
    and acknowledgment^(B) of God rather than burnt offerings.^(C)

²⁴ But let justice^(A) roll on like a river,
    righteousness^(B) like a never-failing stream!^(C)

³⁰ For my eyes have seen your salvation,^(A)
31     which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
³² a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
    and the glory of your people Israel.”^(B)

“‘I have made you^[a] a light for the Gentiles,^(C)
    that you^[b] may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’^[c]”^(D)

“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles;
    I will sing the praises of your name.”^[b](E)

“Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”^[c](F)

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
    let all the peoples extol him.”^[d](G)

“The Root of Jesse^(H) will spring up,
    one who will arise to rule over the nations;
