I Never Knew You

^21 (A)“Not everyone who ^(B)says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will ^(C)enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who ^(D)does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ^22 (E)On that day ^(F)many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not ^(G)prophesy in your name, and cast out demons ^(H)in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ ^23 (I)And then will I declare to them, ‘I ^(J)never knew you; ^(K)depart from me, ^(L)you workers of lawlessness.’

Build Your House on the Rock

^24 (M)“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like ^(N)a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵ And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. ²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like ^(O)a foolish man who built his house on the sand. ²⁷ And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

⁴ There is ^(A)one body and ^(B)one Spirit—just as you were called to the one ^(C)hope that belongs to your call— ^5 (D)one Lord, ^(E)one faith, ^(F)one baptism,

Divisions in the Church

¹⁰ I appeal to you, brothers,^[a] by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no ^(A)divisions among you, but that you be united ^(B)in the same mind and the same judgment. ¹¹ For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is ^(C)quarreling among you, my brothers. ¹² What I mean is that ^(D)each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow ^(E)Apollos,” or “I follow ^(F)Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” ^13 (G)Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you ^(H)baptized in the name of Paul?

⁶ I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,^[a] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may ^(A)be puffed up in favor of one against another.

Christ's Example of Humility

2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from ^(A)love, any ^(B)participation in the Spirit, any ^(C)affection and sympathy, ^2 (D)complete my joy by being ^(E)of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

¹⁸ I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: ^(A)if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, ¹⁹ and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in ^(B)the tree of life and in ^(C)the holy city, which are described in this book.

Final Instructions and Greetings

¹⁷ I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles ^(A)contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; ^(B)avoid them. ¹⁸ For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but ^(C)their own appetites,^[a] and ^(D)by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

^2 (A)You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.
