¹⁸ A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.^{(A) 19} Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.^{(B) 20} Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

⁶ Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ,^(A) doing the will of God from your heart.
