20 Porque el reino de los cielos es semejante a un hombre, padre de familia, que salió por la mañana a contratar obreros para su viña. 2 Y habiendo convenido con los obreros en un denario al día, los envió a su viña. 3 Saliendo cerca de la hora tercera del día, vio a otros que estaban en la plaza desocupados; 4 y les dijo: Id también vosotros a mi viña, y os daré lo que sea justo. Y ellos fueron. 5 Salió otra vez cerca de las horas sexta y novena, e hizo lo mismo. 6 Y saliendo cerca de la hora undécima, halló a otros que estaban desocupados; y les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis aquí todo el día desocupados? 7 Le dijeron: Porque nadie nos ha contratado. Él les dijo: Id también vosotros a la viña, y recibiréis lo que sea justo. 8 Cuando llegó la noche, el señor de la viña dijo a su mayordomo: Llama a los obreros y págales el jornal,(A) comenzando desde los postreros hasta los primeros. 9 Y al venir los que habían ido cerca de la hora undécima, recibieron cada uno un denario. 10 Al venir también los primeros, pensaron que habían de recibir más; pero también ellos recibieron cada uno un denario. 11 Y al recibirlo, murmuraban contra el padre de familia, 12 diciendo: Estos postreros han trabajado una sola hora, y los has hecho iguales a nosotros, que hemos soportado la carga y el calor del día. 13 Él, respondiendo, dijo a uno de ellos: Amigo, no te hago agravio; ¿no conviniste conmigo en un denario? 14 Toma lo que es tuyo, y vete; pero quiero dar a este postrero, como a ti. 15 ¿No me es lícito hacer lo que quiero con lo mío? ¿O tienes tú envidia, porque yo soy bueno? 16 Así, los primeros serán postreros, y los postreros, primeros; porque muchos son llamados, mas pocos escogidos.(B)

20 “For (A)the kingdom of heaven is like [a]a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his (B)vineyard. 2 When he had agreed with the laborers for a [b]denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the [c]third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace; 4 and to those he said, ‘You go into the vineyard also, and whatever is right, I will give you.’ And so they went. 5 Again he went out about the [d]sixth and the ninth hour, and did [e]the same thing. 6 And about the [f]eleventh hour he went out and found others standing around; and he *said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day long?’ 7 They *said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He *said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’
8 “Now when (C)evening came, the [g]owner of the vineyard *said to his (D)foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, starting with the last group to the first.’ 9 When those hired about the eleventh hour came, each one received a [h]denarius. 10 And so when those hired first came, they thought that they would receive more; [i]but each of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they grumbled at the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day’s work and the (E)scorching heat.’ 13 But he answered and said to one of them, ‘(F)Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go; but I want to give to this last person the same as to you. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with what is my own? Or is your (G)eye [j]envious because I am [k]generous?’ 16 So (H)the last shall be first, and the first, last.”

The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like(A) a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.(B) 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.
“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.
“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 “When evening came,(C) the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble(D) against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat(E) of the day.’
13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend.(F) Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’(G)
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”(H)

Sight for Those Who Are Blind
29 (M)As they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. 30 And two people who were blind, sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, (N)have mercy on us, (O)Son of David!” 31 But the crowd sternly warned them to be quiet; yet they cried out all the more, “Lord, (P)Son of David, have mercy on us!” 32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They *said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.” 34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

A Mother’s Request(A)
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons(B) came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down,(C) asked a favor of him.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked.

22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup(E) I am going to drink?”
“We can,” they answered.
23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup,(F) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”

Two Blind Men Receive Sight(L)
29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David,(M) have mercy on us!”
31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

And later, (B)as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a beggar who was blind named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the (C)Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, (D)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “(E)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the man who was blind, saying to him, “(F)Take courage, stand up! Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight(A)
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,(B) he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David,(C) have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi,(D) I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.”(E) Immediately he received his sight and followed(F) Jesus along the road.

35 Aconteció que acercándose Jesús a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando; 36 y al oír a la multitud que pasaba, preguntó qué era aquello. 37 Y le dijeron que pasaba Jesús nazareno. 38 Entonces dio voces, diciendo: ¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí! 39 Y los que iban delante le reprendían para que callase; pero él clamaba mucho más: ¡Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí! 40 Jesús entonces, deteniéndose, mandó traerle a su presencia; y cuando llegó, le preguntó, 41 diciendo: ¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: Señor, que reciba la vista. 42 Jesús le dijo: Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado. 43 Y luego vio, y le seguía, glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo, cuando vio aquello, dio alabanza a Dios.
Jesús y Zaqueo

Parábola de las diez minas
11 Oyendo ellos estas cosas, prosiguió Jesús y dijo una parábola, por cuanto estaba cerca de Jerusalén, y ellos pensaban que el reino de Dios se manifestaría inmediatamente. 12 Dijo, pues: Un hombre noble se fue a un país lejano, para recibir un reino y volver. 13 Y llamando a diez siervos suyos, les dio diez minas,[a] y les dijo: Negociad entre tanto que vengo. 14 Pero sus conciudadanos le aborrecían, y enviaron tras él una embajada, diciendo: No queremos que este reine sobre nosotros. 15 Aconteció que vuelto él, después de recibir el reino, mandó llamar ante él a aquellos siervos a los cuales había dado el dinero, para saber lo que había negociado cada uno. 16 Vino el primero, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha ganado diez minas. 17 Él le dijo: Está bien, buen siervo; por cuanto en lo poco has sido fiel, tendrás autoridad sobre diez ciudades. 18 Vino otro, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha producido cinco minas. 19 Y también a este dijo: Tú también sé sobre cinco ciudades. 20 Vino otro, diciendo: Señor, aquí está tu mina, la cual he tenido guardada en un pañuelo; 21 porque tuve miedo de ti, por cuanto eres hombre severo, que tomas lo que no pusiste, y siegas lo que no sembraste. 22 Entonces él le dijo: Mal siervo, por tu propia boca te juzgo. 35 (A)Now as [a](B)Jesus was approaching Jericho, a man who was blind was sitting by the road, begging. 36 But when he heard a crowd going by, he began inquiring what this was. 37 They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. 38 And he called out, saying, “Jesus, (C)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, “(D)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He asked him, 41 “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!” 42 And Jesus said to him, “Regain your sight; (E)your faith has [b]made you well.” 43 And immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, (F)glorifying God; and when (G)all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.
Zaccheus Converted
19 Jesus (H)entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And [c]there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. 3 Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and he was unable due to the crowd, because he was short in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up a [d](I)sycamore tree in order to see Him, because He was about to pass through that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 And he hurried and came down, and received Him [e]joyfully. 7 When the people saw this, they all began to complain, saying, “He has gone in [f]to be the guest of a man who is a sinner!” 8 But Zaccheus stopped and said to (J)the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I am giving to the poor, and if I have (K)extorted anything from anyone, I am giving back (L)four times as much.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is (M)a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Parable of the Ten Minas
11 Now while they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because (N)He was near Jerusalem and they thought that (O)the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately. 12 So He said, “(P)A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then to return. 13 And he called ten of his own slaves and gave them ten [g]minas, and said to them, ‘Do business with this money [h]until I come back.’ 14 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ 15 When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be summoned to him so that he would learn how much they had made by the business they had done. 16 The first slave appeared, saying, ‘[i]Master, your [j]mina has made ten minas more.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good slave; since you have been (Q)faithful in a very little thing, you are to have authority over ten cities.’ 18 The second one came, saying, ‘Your [k]mina, [l]master, has made five minas.’ 19 And he said to him also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20 And then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I kept tucked away in a handkerchief; 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 He *said to him, ‘[m]From your own lips I will judge you, you worthless slave. A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight(A)
35 As Jesus approached Jericho,(B) a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”(C)
38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David,(D) have mercy(E) on me!”
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”(F)
40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”(G) 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.(H)
Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
19 Jesus entered Jericho(I) and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig(J) tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.(K)
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”(L)
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,(M) “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything,(N) I will pay back four times the amount.”(O)
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.(P) 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”(Q)
The Parable of the Ten Minas(R)

15 “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.
16 “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more.’
17 “‘Well done, my good servant!’(V) his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’(W)
18 “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’
19 “His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’
20 “Then another servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. 21 I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’(X)
22 “His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words,(Y) you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?(Z) 23 Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’
24 “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.(AA) 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’”
