Murder^(A)

²¹ “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,^[a](B) and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ ²² But I tell you that anyone who is angry^(C) with a brother or sister^[b][c] will be subject to judgment.^(D) Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’^[d] is answerable to the court.^(E) And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.^(F)

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.^{(A) 20} These are what defile a person;^(B) but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

¹⁸ “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery,^(A) you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony,

²¹ For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, ²² adultery, greed,^(A) malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. ²³ All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
