³⁴ He called the crowd with his disciples and said to them, “If any wish to come^[a] after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.^{(A) 35} For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel,^[b] will save it.^(B)

The Cross and Self-Denial

²⁴ Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any wish to come after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.^{(A) 25} For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.

²³ Then he said to them all, “If any wish to come after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.^{(A) 24} For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.^(B)
