48 Seeing them [a]straining at the oars—for the wind was against them—at about the [b](A)fourth watch of the night, He *came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. 49 But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they thought that it was a ghost, and they cried out; 50 for they all saw Him and were [c]terrified. But immediately He spoke with them and *said to them, “(B)Take courage; it is I, (C)do not be afraid.” 51 Then He got into (D)the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished, 52 for (E)they [d]had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but [e]their hearts (F)were hardened.

49 But they seeing him walking upon the sea, thought it was an apparition, and they cried out.
50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he spoke with them, and said to them: Have a good heart, it is I, fear ye not.
51 And he went up to them into the ship, and the wind ceased: and they were far more astonished within themselves:
52 For they understood not concerning the loaves; for their heart was blinded.

48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.(A) They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.
Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”(B) 51 Then he climbed into the boat(C) with them, and the wind died down.(D) They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.(E)
