¹¹ Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”^{(A) 12} But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.^(B)

¹⁸ No one has ever seen God,^(A) but the one and only Son, who is himself God and^[a](B) is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

⁶ Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit^[a] gives birth to spirit.^(A)

²¹ But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
