27 (A)And Jesus *said to them, “You will all [a]fall away, because it is written: ‘(B)I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 28 But after I am raised, (C)I will go ahead of you to Galilee.” 29 But Peter said to Him, “Even if they all [b]fall away, yet I will not!” 30 And Jesus *said to him, “Truly I say to you, that [c](D)this very night, before (E)a rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny Me three times.” 31 But [d]Peter repeatedly said insistently, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And they all were saying the same thing as well.

27 “Every one of you will lose your faith in me,” Jesus told them, “As the scripture says: ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered’.

28 Yet after I have risen, I shall go before you into Galilee!”

Peter’s bold word—and Jesus’ reply

29 Then Peter said to him, “Even if everyone should lose faith, I never will.”

30 “Believe me, Peter,” returned Jesus, “this very night before the cock crows twice, you will disown me three times.”

31 But Peter protested violently, “Even if it means dying with you, I will never disown you!” And they all made the same protest.
