18 And (A)the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because (B)all the people were astonished at His teaching. 19 When evening had come, He went out of the city.

18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him,(A) because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.(B)
19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples[a] went out of the city.(C)
20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.
